Happy Friday my Lovelies,
This week saw me nervously, but excitedly, put up my first video on YouTube – when you press that button PUBLISH and you know that it is then out there …. online ….. it is quite a scary feeling …. but amazingly it seems to have been really well received and like my blog I have had the most amazing support and encouragement from the online world …. and from Becky and Holly of course. I am sure some of you will have had a look but if you haven’t seen it then just go on to YouTube and type in Growing Old Disgracefully and up it comes. If you want to see some more then you just subscribe to it. That would be amazing. My life online is just evolving all the time … it’s an amazing journey …. that’s not just to LONDON….hehe….. and I am loving it.
So for the few days away to France I have taken some little favourites of mine that I have been trying this week. Being a foundation sort of girl normally, the whole BB and CC (will there be a DD and EE) cream thing has passed me by, with me having tried a couple and thinking that they were just not for me. Having researched it, apparently BB stands for Blemish Balm (ie covers blemishes) and CC stands for Colour Correcting …. I am so glad I have now established this as there are so many of them on the market. Anyway, I had tried a couple but thought they weren’t for me until I thought I would try the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and I had read some pretty good reviews about it.
So off to Boots I went to purchase some and tried it. I applied it over a primer and with my fingers, as with a brush it seemed more streaky, and it definitely is a lightweight product but offers the coverage and you can build it up in the areas where you need slightly more coverage. I found it very good at covering up redness and as an every day type of foundation where you don’t want to look like you have heavy foundation and the finish is light and dewy. It only comes in 4 shades and they are quite light so you might want to add some highlighter/blusher but overall I would say this is probably a very good CC cream and would be something that I would use … that’s why it made it into my packing for France. Oh and I forgot to say it has SPF of 15 in it too which for me is a must for my trip.
On top of the CC Creme, on my cheeks, I have been loving another drug store/ Boots stocked product and that is the Max Factor Miracle Touch Blush and the shade I wear is Soft Pink, although I did purchase Soft Copper and Soft Murano as my friend who has darker skin than me wanted to try it too. I have never really tried cream blushes before but was so pleased to find that with this one you just need two or three dabs of this blended lightly on the apples of your cheeks. It has great pigment and is buildable so you can go as strong as you like, but I would take it slowly at first and gradually build up with the pigment.
The result is a natural, dewy fresh glow and unlike most powders has a longer staying power throughout the day. The compact isn’t anything special but at a price of £5.95 they are not going to spend a lot on that are they? And I like the size of it …. it means it definitely made it into the make up bag too for travelling.
To go with my look in France I now need a hydrating lipstick and the one that ticks a lot of boxes is one By Terry – a Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge Balm/Lipstick. Don’t you just feel that sometimes you just have to choose between colour and moisture a lot of the time? Well this one has amazing ingredients in it like the hyaluronic which plumps up the lip cells, softens and smoothes them and has UV filters to help lips from ageing sun damage.
It is richly pigmented and really hydrating and comes up in a sheer finish so I would probably be topping this up a few times in the day, but I feel the sheerness and lightness of it and particularly with the goodies it has to keep your lips hydrated means again it is perfect for my trip away. The shade I have it in is Dragon Pink but it comes in 17 colours so there is great choice. Terry de Gunzberg who set up By Terry quit medical school as she wanted to help others look beautiful and she was Director of Creation and Marketing for YSL and came up with the iconic Touch Eclat and then she set up By Terry in 2000. Amazing lady with a quest for quality products to make us look gorgeous – I am a big fan of By Terry.
It’s treat time too for my dry and fine hair and I am going to be putting a mask on it. . Sometimes when I go on a chilling type of holiday for a few days like this it is an opportunity to pamper myself a bit and I am going to be putting on the SP Hydrate by Wella mask which I use regularly to make my hair soft and lustrous as when you are using heat stylers and products on your hair it needs treating to keep it looking good.
I shampoo my hair as normal and then towel dry and leave this gorgeous smelling mask on for about 5 or 10 mins (depends on how long it takes me to drink my G & T!!) and then rinse it off. My hair is left beautifully smooth and easy to brush or comb through, and I don’t feel so bad about then curling or straightening it. They do this mask in either Volume or Hydrate but I mainly tend to use the Hydrate. It’s the most lovely feeling, isn’t it, when your hair is so soft and silky. Happy Hair!!
Have a great week and hope you enjoy my YouTube too.
Lots of Love
