Hello Lovelies

Well Christmas is nearly here and I guess most of you have bought all those presents and many of you wrapped them up … but I am not there yet! I love love love this time of year, but at the moment, probably a bit like you, I am running to keep up with work, Christmas parties and socialising. It’s such a lovely time of the year but every year it is festive mania as I call it. But I will absolutely love it as I celebrate with my lovely family and friends and catch up on all the news and just eat and drink far too much (it wouldn’t be Christmas if you didn’t!). Then Boxing Day I am going away to France for the rest of the break and New Year to the snow (hopefully), but at the moment the weather is so mild that I am beginning to think there won’t be much skiing going on! Anyway, this is going to be my last blog until January as I am taking a break and thinking you won’t have time to read blogs anyway …. you will be far too busy, so I am wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a really Happy New Year and will see you in 2016 … but I will be on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook in the meantime….

xmas tree

This week’s beauty is all about luxury products and products that I would definitely have liked in my stocking.

I am in love with Burberry at the moment, having visited their gorgeous Covent Garden shop a few weeks ago and with my purchases she gave me a beautiful sample of the lovely My Burberry Perfume. I only have it in the most tiniest of sizes but it is fast becoming my favourite perfume of the moment. It comes in a gorgeous gold lined box with gold embossed lettering on the outside. The whole concept is around the famous Burberry Trench coat and the smell is supposed to represent a London garden after the rain…. You are wearing your lovely trench coat in London and of course, because it’s the UK it will rain … and you will wander into an urban garden and this is the scent you will smell …. don’t you just love the idea behind it??

I love the contemporary bottle and then the stopper is inspired by the button of the Burberry Trench, the colour of the perfume is honey beige(the colour of the trench), and the little ribbon around the neck of the bottle is made of the same fabric that the trenches are made in from a factory in Yorkshire. Awww … I love a good creative design bringing together tradition too.

So what is the scent? Well it’s sweet peas (no wonder I love it), citrusy notes of bergamot then geranium then rounded off with a base of patchouli (love) and a slight scent of rose. I am really loving it and am sure this little bottle will run out soon so this is on the Christmas list !!! It comes in various sizes but the 90ml, the cheapest I could find it for was £55.95 on

It’s Party Time and you want to look as gorgeous as you can. The likes of Kim Kardashian swear by the lovely Charlotte Tilbury’s “slimmer shimmer” as she calls it and Kim uses it to enhance her curves! Well, I certainly haven’t got a body like Kim and I really don’t expect to look like her if I use this, but I do like the idea of when you are wearing a dress and exposing your arms, décolleté and possibly even legs? at Christmas, well it would be nice to make them as highlighted and sculpted as possible. (The gym certainly hasn’t been happening lately as I have been too busy), so let’s try and take a short cut and see if that helps. Within the formula are various highlighters and apparently caffeine which helps to reduce bloating and puffiness (well I can’t comment on that claim really) so I applied it to my arms and decollete.

charlotte super model

You twist the cap and roll the product up and down your arms and then blend it out with your fingers and I was really pleased with the way it can help slightly flabby arms look smoother and firmer and very slightly tanned, and of course some slight (not too much) Christmas sparkle. I let it dry first before putting my dress on and was pleased to say that it didn’t stain my dress (always a bonus).

tube of charlotte

It’s quite expensive, £45.00 expensive and is a high price because of the Ferni Protect it contains which is a wild mushroom that helps to protect the collagen in your skin and keeps it firmer and supple and then menthol which helps circulation and blood flow. Great claims and I can’t really comment on the latter but it definitely looks lovely on your arms and sculpts them and helps you look gorgeously healthy and polished and party-like! If you have great legs I bet this would look amazing on them too. Welcome the body of an angel!!!! (I wish).

Christmas isn’t Christmas without sparkly nails and everyone wants a little bit of Chanel at Christmas (or is it just me?). A luxury brand and oh so glamorous and they have brought out a Limited edition multi effect top coat nail polish that’s a sparkle coat and a top coat too.

This is a pinky red tinted clear base with layers of gold sparkle that looks so gorgeous over both their Rouge Noir colour and any dark colour. You need to shake the bottle quite vigorously to shake the contents up before applying but it dries very quickly (probably about 90 seconds) which is amazing … more time to get on and party …..and the reason why I love this so much is that the golden glitters are flat and so the top coat dries to a beautiful smooth surface. And there you have the most gorgeous Christmas nails …. Sooooooooooo pretty. Love you Chanel …. anyone would love you in their Christmas stocking.

Let me know what luxury gift you would like in your stocking and have the most wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.

See you in 2016!!!

Lots of Love

Hi Lovelies

Welcome back to this week’s blog and as everything hots up for Christmas Becky and I were lucky enough to spend a couple of days in London mainly for meetings but we did get chance to window shop in Harrods and visit Oxford Street with the beautiful Christmas lights.  I know a lot of people have stayed away from London because of what happened in Paris, but I just feel like we have to carry on with our lives and so we carried on with our plans.  One of the treats that we had after feeling pretty tired from bag carrying and Christmas shopping was that we visited the amazing luxury BeautyBAR by Clarins which is in John Lewis on Oxford Street but just tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the store and London, to the side of the Clarins counter.

Clarins Beauty bar

The fantastic idea behind this is that you can have 30 minute treatments to quickly help you resolve whatever your beauty skin issue.  I had the amazing Revital Eyes as my eyes were just feeling so tired from London and after 30 minutes I left feeling brightened and tightened and refreshed.  Your hands get a lovely treatment in this one and there’s also a mini massage too!  I loved it and it’s only£25.  The best bit for me is that they put some make up back onto you so you can go back into the store and carry on shopping … you don’t feel too barefaced … if you are not comfortable with that.   She used some amazing mascara on me too!!!  Becky and I decided that we would be going back for more treatments when we are down in London as it was such a pick me up!

Now onto a little experiment that I have been doing for the last few months between the high end brand of La Prairie Cellular Hydrating Serum and the high street/drugstore Boots No 7 brand of Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum.  On the left hand side of my face I have been using the La Prairie (priced at £129.60 in John Lewis /£144.00 in Harrods!) and on the right hand side of my face Boots No7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum priced at £23.95.  My aim – to find out if it worth spending all that money on a serum, does it make a difference? Is it worth the extra spend?

So La Prairie’s packaging is a luxury looking pale blue and beautiful silver container and would look lovely in any bathroom.  It’s hard to find exactly what the ingredients are in La Prairie but it claims to be loaded with antioxidants and cell communicating ingredients to reproduce the look of healthy skin and the actual serum did make my skin feel soft and silky when applied.  The bottle would probably last you nearly a year and it is scented, but I didn’t mind that and I had no sensitive reaction to the product.

Boots No 7 protect

Boots No7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum claims to target and tackle fine lines and that it contains peptides such as the powerful Matrixyl 3000 Plus which is the next generation peptide to help your skin look younger.  It stimulates collagen and elastic reproduction so the results keep getting better with the more you use it.  The packaging is basic, and a tube that would probably last you 6 months?

Now for the interesting bit …… what did I think?  Feeling both sides of my skin and closing my eyes to really understand the difference …. Does the side with La Prairie feel softer and smoother …Yes…. Does it feel more plumped ?  ……Yes.  But how much ????? Not a huge, huge deal.  I want to be able to say oh my goodness my skin looks and feels out of this world with La Prairie, but I can’t … all I can say is that it is better.  If money was not in the equation then it’s definitely La Prairie … but in most people’s worlds it is going to be Boots No7, isn’t it, and it’s  been proven to be doing a great job …. so better to be using this than nothing at all!!!  Hehe …. now to even my face out for the next 6 months by switching sides with the products…!!!!!

Let’s get onto hair now and how in the winter, and also with dry, coloured hair, my hair needs all the help it can get!  Now here’s a lovely smelling oil from a brand that I love that contains macadamia, coconut and sweet almond oil …. ohhh that smell is gorgeous.  This lovely nourishing treatment oil for your hair can be used as a pre-wash treatment or the way I have been using it is after I have styled my hair, I pop a few drops on the top half of my fingers, rub both hands together and then sort of scrunch if on the ends and any curls or style I might have to help soften it and make it more glossy.

dove pure care dry oil

You think when you put oil on your hair that it is going to make it greasy or heavy, but not at all, the trick is not to use very much and if you suffer from the frizzies, then it will help de-frizz!  What a gorgeous, great priced nourishing treatment for hair in a bottle that will last simply ages and ages and I found it at Boots for £9.99.  Just can’t stop stroking my hair now hehe …..

So that’s it for this week, as I now rush around like all women out there going into some chaotic pre-Christmas state as I still have presents to buy, still have wrapping to do … and personally don’t I just hate those lovely ladies who have them all wrapped up by now!! (secretly I probably wish that I was one of those .. but why is it that my girlies just won’t get their Christmas lists organised until the last moment ….Aaaaaagh!) Love them really.

Lots of love and happy Christmas Shopping xx

Beauty, Make Up

Hi Lovelies

Happy Friday! Another Friday here already and a mixed week for me. Last Friday night, I was in London when the awfulness happened in Paris and as I sat in my hotel room, you could feel the whole capital was just in sadness for the events that unfolded in Paris that night. I know it struck Becky and Holly, that my husband and I had gone off to London for a night at the theatre and how for all those families affected, they never knew what the outcome was going to be that night. Add to that, one hell of a cold (caught from my husband who only had a sniffle, but I end up with a really bad head cold) and it’s been a bit of a week. Anyone else on the cold and flu tablets?? So we need a bit of beauty to cheer us up!!!

Let’s get started with a mascara that has been out for a while I know, but one which I have only really used lately. Lancome patented this mascara for its “swan neck” which I must admit I was a bit daunted by at first and almost scared to use? However, on using it you do find that it helps give great lift as you twirl away. I love the brush as sometimes I find them too long or the bristles way too thick for my lashes, but this elastomer one distributes the mascara evenly over the eyelashes and its great for my teeny weeny little lower lashes.

The other nice thing is that is has a nourishing rose oil in it which also helps to smooth as you apply. You do actually get used to the swan neck and probably find you are not doing as many weird head movements to apply it. I have to say when I first used it I did love the lifting and lengthening aspect of it. It’s not for you if you want masses of volume, but I love it as a great mascara (easily removed at the end of the day) for the day. It’s not cheap though … £24.50 was the cheapest that I could find it online for.

Now I am someone that has only over the last year got into oils. I used to think that they would clog my pores and be greasy, which is a feeling I hate, but I am becoming a fan of them. L’Oreal’s version for the likes of me and my lovely friends of a certain age (whatever that might be) – I tend to say it’s more how your skin feels than the age that you are, is a gorgeous blend of 8 essential oils, lavender, marjoram, rosemary, geranium and rose being amongst them. So in there, ideal for me too with sensitive skin are some oils that help have antibacterial properties so help to calm redness and are good for sensitive skin. It does have a slight perfume, which I would say is on the light citrussy side but it doesn’t linger long.

So about 3 drops of this at nighttime (you can use it in the morning as well), rubbed gently in my fingers and then massaged in circular motion on my face and neck and I do decollete as well really does help to leave my skin glow, be much smoother and more nourished. I prefer to do this oil treatment first and leave that for a few seconds and then add my night moisturiser separately but I know some people pop it into their moisturiser and do them both in one step. Having been someone who was really fearful of the whole oil thing, I have been converted to realising that it is just what my skin actually needs, particularly as we get a little bit (only a little bit hehe) older …. as it starts to thin and can look slightly dull too … this is the answer! I found it at all sorts of prices too from £6.90 up to £13.33 online , but either way, it’s a great price for a lovely oil, which using only a few drops a day is going to last you simply ages!! I am now an oil convert !!!!

Wanting a fresh, natural, long wearing, buildable blusher that looks great on fair skin? Then this one is it. This has become my Holy Grail blusher for the past month or so and I purchased it by chance really as I probably wouldn’t have done as it looked like it was going to be glittery/shimmer when in fact it isn’t. It’s a really flattering dusky pink with no fragrance, which is what I like, comes in a lovely silver container and has a mirror as well.

I am not really a fan of the brush although on the move, without your normal blusher brush you could possibly get away with it, but you need to go lightly with the brush supplied as it does tend to make you look clownlike if you are a bit heavy handed with it, so as always go gently with blusher and build it up in layers if you need to. I think it’s good value compared to some higher end blushes, say like Nars, and this would last you ages and ages. Cheapest price I found it at was £19.60 but truly a lovely blush.

That’s it for this week’s blog… I am going to leave you with one of my favourite shoes …. so cute xx

oh … they are from Next …

Lots of love and have a great week and hope you don’t get a cold like me xx

Hello Lovelies

This week sees me writing this from the sunbed in the Maldives and I am oh so happy (who wouldn’t be?) as I listen to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore and look up to the most amazing, relaxing scene on the horizon. But life isn’t totally perfect … if it makes you feel any better then I have just been bitten by a mosquito so I have had to get the spray out! (They seem to like my blood!) But that’s a small price to pay for being in one of the world’s most beautiful places. I am away here with my workaholic husband, as I have learnt it is one of the few places that helps him relax … even though we have wi fi here so he can still keep in touch via emails etc.

This week I was lucky enough to attend a Charity Dinner in aid of such a good cause and I took the occasion to get suitably glammed up and used this as the subject for this week’s video on YouTube. I like to give and help local charities where I can.

Anyway let’s get onto some Beauty!

If your skin type is dry, and even if it isn’t and you just have some dry patches in places, imagine a balm that can do so many things. Trilogy’s Everything Balm is a nourishing and protecting balm that I have tried using on my cuticles, my lips, my hands, my elbows, my feet and even underneath my eyes, in fact I have brought it away with me because it does so many things. If you had really dry skin you could also use it as a cleansing balm to remove make up etc, but my skin is combination and I have to be careful not to put something that is so moisturising on it.

It comes in a pretty tin and is a very rich, oily solid balm with high quality natural ingredients that helps you feel good about what you are putting on your skin. After swirling your fingers around in it, it kinda melts into your skin to leave it feeling nourished with a lavender/herbally scent to it, which I don’t mind and because it doesn’t have coconut or shea butter in then it doesn’t tend to block your pores either. All in all a great product for dry, sensitive skin and one that I put in my bathroom bag to bring away but equally it could sit in my handbag when I am home for the colder winter weather that is a coming and I am also thinking of taking it skiing with me in the winter to deal with those chapped lips and help prevent windburn.. So many uses for this gorgeous little tin!!

Night time is a gorgeous time for us to rest our bodies in anticipation of the next day, but it is also the most important time for skin repair, which is why I try most of the time (not always – depending on how exhausted I am!) to have a good night time skincare regime. Part of the ritual that I go through is putting lovely creams on for their texture and effect too. Enter Caudalie, one of my favourite French skincare brands, who have a lovely shop in Covent Garden, but is sold in Selfridges, Space NK and online of course.

caudalie night cream

Their magic ingredient Resveratrol, is allegedly one of the best things to come out of the anti-ageing market (or should I now say pro-ageing market?) in terms of fighting cell degeneration and helps to repair, re-build and hence re-sculpt our skin. I only had the sample size to try (I like to often just get samples to make up my mind if I am going to like it) and must say that I absolutely loved the creamy gorgeous texture and the way it instantly has the effect of firming and hydrating, particularly when used on my neck, jawline and cheeks and waking up to smooth soft skin in the morning, which is also helping to keep those nasty wrinkles at bay hehe…… Pretty pink packaging helps too of course! I think I have mentioned before that my aim next year is to go and stay at the Caudalie Spa near Bordeaux and enjoy some of their beautiful treatments in a beautiful place.

Get excited if you like intense lip gloss colour with shine ….. Wow!!!! To go to the Charity Dinner I wanted a strong red lip and do like shine so I went along to Mac and purchased their new Amplify Lip Gloss. I have never really got on that well with Mac Lipsticks and wondered what to expect with this lip gloss but I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Firstly the texture is creamy, quite moisturising but most of all really highly pigmented although there is a little bit of translucency so a bit of lip colour will be coming through too which is what I wanted.

I went for the shade “Suggestive” which is an intense Blue-Red – Medium Dark Red with cool pinky undertones and loved the doe foot applicator which makes applying it in one swipe really easy and although I applied lip liner as well to help keep the shape, you could almost get away without it. I always apply lip primer too, particularly when wearing a darker colour and if you apply it slightly outside of your lipliner it helps to stop the darker colours bleeding. It certainly lasts for a few hours before I needed to re-apply, it has a slight vanilla scent (not really sure why it needs that, but it didn’t bother me) and all I can say is WOW!!!!! I think I am going to go back and purchase some in different colours as they have a large selection of colours and I hear that these are for a limited period only …(Why?) … so I want to make sure I have my stocks for the winter!!! I am definitely liking the strong lip.

Hope you like the photo of me at the Charity Dinner and if you haven’t watched the video to see how I achieved this look please have a watch on YouTube… Growing Old Disgracefully (of course!).

Lots of love and now off for a G & T (be rude not to !!!) xxx

Beauty, Hair, Nails, Skincare

Hello Lovelies

Well Autumn is well and truly here in the UK and I am loving the colours of nature reflected in the colours of make up and packaging and window dressing. Isn’t it wonderful how we have these seasons to keep us on our toes with food, fashion, make up and oh so many things? Makes life so interesting. As a child I loved Autumn and have such fond memories of just rolling in all the dry leaves and loving the crunching sound and feel against my coat as we rolled down hills. I have this wonderful creeper on my house which turns the most beautiful colour each Autumn/Fall and looks spectacular.

Let’s get onto some Beauty and see what I have been trying:-

Who doesn’t love a Hollywood icon like Audrey Hepburn? Well darling Audrey had problem hair like I do in the sense that it was coloured, but unlike me she was having hers styled all the time for some epic movie or appearance. She approached Philip Kingsley in his trendy London salon and asked him to create a product to help improve the condition of her constantly stressed out hair! The result is the hero product of Philip Kingsley’s range – the Elasticiser.

It’s a pre-shampoo treatment and the way I used it was to dampen my hair but to let it dry off slightly and then apply the product and leave this on for about 40 minutes (it says 20 but I think my hair is really dry). Then I rinsed it off – this needs probably two rinses as the product is so thick and intense and it works by delivering a rush of moisture in the hair cuticle. This product can be used on all types of hair but mine is fairly straight and getting thinner by the year! Result was I can say beautiful body and shine to my hair….. so it can be done outside a treatment at the hairdressers. It’s a really beautiful treatment which I think is probably a weekly one, depending just on how dry your hair is. When your hair feels good, you feel good don’t you, so Audrey must have been one very happy lady.

I am fast becoming a fan of the amazing Eucerin brand with a history of more than 100 years in the holistic dermo cosmetic approach to skincare. Perhaps its the fact that their products are free from perfume and alcohol (save that for drinking!) and non comedogenic (I had to look that up and it means it doesn’t block your pores …. I am sure you knew that anyway.) and that all means it suits my sensitive skin really well.

eucerin eye filler

This latest one I have tried targets that area which is one of the first to show signs of ageing – underneath the eyes. It helps tighten that area up by increasing the size of the volumising cells by peptides (those lovely things that we need) to help strengthen the collagen which in turn helps keep those little lines away. It has also got that lovely Hyaluronic Acid – the magic ingredient which works at surface level to increase water retention and the fantastic other thing it has is SPF 15 (why don’t more eye creams have that ?) I pop it on morning and night and although I have wrinkles, I am trying to stop them from becoming worse.

I only recently fell in love with this gorgeous London brand and loved the coral colour that I tried on my toes over Summer so I thought that I would try their BB Basecoat as my stocks of basecoat had run out and I always like to try something new. The difference with Eve Snow brands from many of the other cheaper ones is that it has benefits for your nails. Containing oils to keep more moisturised and B vitamins to help strengthen, then what I found is that my nails do really feel much less brittle than before, much healthier and their growth is helped by the B vitamins.

eve snow base coat

It’s lovely to apply, covers really well and leaves a glossy shine of goodness and also for me, helps fill in some of the ridges I have on my nails, making it easier and a much better result when I apply the top coats. Actually you could leave this on your nails if that is the kind of look you like as its a nice glossy finish and its doing your nails good too. That combined with the gorgeous bottle too – I love the fact it has a little indent in it half way down as it helps you to grip on the bottle. Many a bottle of nail varnish has ended up slipping out of my hands and smashing onto a hard tiled floor ….oops! Oh … did I mention that it was quick drying too? This has to be my most favourite base coat.

Hoping you have enjoyed the reviews this week and sending you my love.

Beauty, Make Up, Nails

Well I am back from Rhodes last night to the UK. Don’t you just hate it when you get off that aeroplane and instead of that warm, humid breeze that we had in Greece, its the cold, northerly wind that we have in the UK? Still it is lovely to be back and glad that today is slightly sunny so that I am not missing that Mediterranean sunshine so much. I had such a lovely time with Becky and Holly as we had our annual catch up about life – work, men, just about everything …. I did think actually as we were round the pool that these lovely couples who were so quiet and reading books etc would have been laughing as they listened to our conversation about all sorts of things. I guess it’s a little bit different a mum and two daughters going away, isn’t it but we all love it and hang on to the special times that we have together. But now it’s back into the chaos of life….. Love it!!!!

I wouldn’t be writing this blog unless I loved all things make up and the girls always laugh so much at me because I have to just swatch everything … I just love it so much and also want to know how it feels … texture must be so important to me … they say that, don’t they that one of the most important of the senses is touch and how good that can make you feel … but I ramble, sorry. Anyway, fast forward to a company that I hadn’t heard of before, hence I love it already hehe …. but it’s called Delilah and is available through Space NK and Fortnum and Mason and in some lovely spas around the country and although it doesn’t have a great range of products what it does have is certainly in what I would call the luxe end. Lots of oooh and aaaahhhhing going on this end as I swatch stuff. If you are short of time (tick), often like a pretty natural make up look (tick) like something that’s nice and easy (tick), then their Delilah Cosmetics Farewell Cream Concealer could be something for your wishlist.

It comes in a gorgeous dark metallic pencil, Chubby Stick style design and you just twist the end to allow more of the pencil product to come out (so no sharpener required!) and looks really chic in your make up bag but it’s the formula that I am in love with as this is so silky smooth (not draggy at all like some formulas) and provides undetectable coverage which is what you want (provided you get the right colour). There are 6 shades in the range and the formula is dreamlike … disappearing into your skin and so easily applied to under eye, redness around the nose etc and even covers some dark spots that I have and thanks to some of that amazing hyaluronic acid it helps fill very fine lines and makes everything look smoother. Nothing is going to sort out deep chasms, but it does a great job on the finer variety! It also has got moisturisers and anti oxidants in there which leave the skin feeling soft and hydrated whereas some concealers can have a very drying effect. It’s £24.00, which isn’t cheap, but look at what you are getting for it. Lovely product to have and just touch up easily later on in the day if you need to…. easy peasy.

Having just been on my holidays, I wanted to tell you about something which possibly saved my hair from being pretty dry when I got back. We all know how much the sun, wind, heat styling products dry hair out and I am always dealing with this problem with my hair. So I took this lovely masque by Bumble and Bumble which deals with really dry hair and applied it most days after we came in from round the pool.

I would have my shower and then apply this and leave it in a shower cap for 15 minutes whilst I went and sat on my balcony and stared at the beautiful, calming view over the sea … how attractive I must have looked hehe …. a cup of tea in my hand … and I was in heaven. It’s got lovely clean and fresh packaging which reminds me of the beach and comes in a super squeeze tube so it’s really easy to apply. The masque is quite thick so it does take a bit of rinsing out but the results were worth it as my hair felt beautifully soft and shiny and was a great detangler, which takes some doing with coloured hair and I am finding that it works better over time too.

Regular viewers and readers will know how much I love Kiko products and we are lucky enough to have one in Nottingham and I know that they are opening them in many cities around the country so many of my UK readers will be able to give them a visit. When you go I am sure you will love it …. if you like make up!!! The latest product I tried from there is their Kiko Curling Mascara reduced from £7.20 to £3.10 which gives great volume and upward curl because of its flexible brush. It’s a beautiful mascara and has double length bristles with the shorter bristles on the top helping you to do the lower lashes.

Love, love, love Nails Inc Nail Polish for their quality of polish, their bottles and their fabulous colours that they bring out to match catwalk and fashion trends. Autumn is kinda here …… kinda coming and I was really excited to find the colour in their newish range Nailkale called Gloucester Walk. This is what I call my Quality Street colour – you know the lovely purple chocolate with the nut in the toffee that people have been known to fight over at Christmas (or is that just me?!) so how excited was I to purchase this and have a go. The Nailkale formula is different in that it contains anti oxidants in its formula to help boost keratin and build stronger nails (something which I always need). Love, love, love too this gorgeous weighty bottle which looks and feels so expensive and the concave design and the modern chrome cap, and the fact that you can put your finger underneath the cleverly designed bottle to see what the nail polish would actually look like on your nail … genius.

In my usual quick way I proceeded to paint my nails, not at first noticing that the brush is a new design too which is a wide flat paddle design, curved at the tip, and so I actually put too much on initially as it holds a lot of product. The brush is really dense though so it enables you to get really close to the cuticle to get a nice clean line. And what’s the polish like ? Well you won’t be disappointed because its super smooth and super pigmented so that Wow … two coats and it dries to an amazing looking high shine beautiful finish. I am so happy with my Quality Street … Gorgeous.

Let me know if you have tried any of these Nailkale formulas and what you think of them.

As always lots of love and have a great week

Hello Lovelies and welcome to this week’s blog which finds me away with my beautiful daughters having a Mum/Daughter annual chill out on the island of Rhodes, Greece. How I look forward to and love being with them both and even though each year it becomes more and more difficult to arrange, we are all determined to continue this for as long as we can …. talking though the good and the bad times of life…that’s the men of course haha … and chilling out in the warm temperatures of Greece, knowing that when we get back to the UK that north wind will be blowing! How wonderful is it to sit out for dinner in dresses or strappy tops and not to feel cold? Oh I want to hang on to this feeling so much …..and also … these times will go in the memory bank of life …..

So how amazing is it on your first morning in a new resort to pull back the curtains and see blue sky and sunshine and sea!!

We all try and think about our skincare, don’t we …. and some more than others … but how many of us think about our scalp care?? Not me really until now. My hair is coloured, it’s exposed to all the elements and it gets all sorts of products thrown onto it (literally!) and it’s probably not until now as well that I have been conscious that my hair is thinning. Thinning hair can be down to all sorts of things, stress, the chemicals of products, hormones and getting older (only slightly of course!) and the elements, and I could probably put my hand up for all of those … so how pleased was I to discover that an amazing hair stylist, Patrick Ales, during the 50’s, believe it or not, noticed that chemical rich styling took its toll on hair and decided that he would do something about it. Enter the range from Phyto. Phyto Phytopolleine (mouthful!) is a pre-shampoo botanical treatment claiming to have the highest concentrate of pure plant extracts in a hair product and the idea is that you put this on for about 20 minutes before you shampoo. (Apologies that the photo shows the French side … so sorry but I speak French and did this in a bit of a hurry so it wasn’t until I got out to Greece and checked the photo that I realised it was French …!!) Anyway this is a Pre-Shampoo product.

I actually put this on for an hour before and some people pop it on overnight and although the application is a little bit tricky at first because it is pointy and hard to know where it is going, I applied it and massaged it in (you look a bit weird for a while with greasy hair but it’s worth it!). Within seconds I felt my scalp calming down and feeling a bit more nourished and I was surprised that I noticed that effect so soon and then you just shampoo as normal. I have used this a few times now and my scalp definitely feels so much better and more balanced and I am aiming to build as strong and healthy hair as I can and I am also going to try one of the shampoos that Phyto do as well to see if I can help double up the hair thickening and healthy hair process. I met a young girl the other week who is a blogger who had lost a lot of her hair due to stress etc and she switched to this Photo Phytopolleine and then one of the shampoos as well and swears by it for the beautiful hair that she now has. How awful to have bald patches (I am certainly not at that point, just want to try and thicken mine up if I can.) It’s available at John Lewis and Feel Unique and aIthough its not cheap this is luxury hair care and amazing essential oils. So I also take vitamins as well and I will give you an update in a future blog to see how I get on and see if I have so much hair that I don’t know what to do with it haha…

We are staying with luxury beauty products with this little number and I am constantly intrigued as to what goes into the ever evolving world of beauty products. How much do you love your lips??? Enough to want them to look as kissable and luscious for as long as possible. As we age so the little lines dare to appear, particularly above the cupid’s bow and sometimes people struggle with trying to keep their lipstick from bleeding into these lines. Well, two sisters, one a gynaecologist and hormonal wellness expert and the other had been in the beauty business her whole life and they set about bringing out a range of skincare and in this case, lip care, to address hormonal issues and included 100 per cent natural plant based phytoestrogen in their lip product…. genius! Oestrogen starts to decline from your twenties onwards and so does the plumping collagen, so we need all the help that we can get.

You can use this Veneffect little beauty as a lip primer, spreading it wider than your lips so that it is absorbed into the surrounding areas around your lips, and I use it last thing at night, before I go to bed, it’s the one thing I will get out of bed to put on, if I have forgotten to do so (other things get the “Oh sod it …. that can wait until the morning” treatment!) It’s a lovely soft, light cream, working hard for its money to make my lips, softer and plumper and the area around them more plumped up too.

I am never going to look like I have lips like Angelina Jolie, but if it helps, over time, to make my lips look 10 years younger, then I would be happy and I guess a lot of other women would be too. Although this is not cheap!!!! (it’s available from Space NK) but then personally, I would rather use this which again is natural oestrogen, than I would be having my lips filled with filler. Nothing against anyone that chooses to go down the filler route, it’s just not for me. (Too scared!)

If you saw my new Autumn make up video this week (YouTube – Growing Old Disgracefully) then you will have seen some eyeshadows that I have discovered that I absolutely love. Now for £4.99 from Boots and Superdrug these little beauties claim to stay on for 24 hours and are a creamy gel consistency (sadly I think I have passed the age when I kept make up on for 24 hours haha). I tried out the shades Creme de Nude which is a lovely creamy nude base which would be fine to wear if you like an almost no make up make up look, then Creamy Beige which would make a fantastic every day, easy look colour and then I used a plummy colour Metallic Pomegranite to add some Autumn colour on my eyelids.

maybelline tattoo

Probably best to apply these with your fingers as they are so easy to apply and blend beautifully, although you could use a brush but only pop a small amount on. The pigmentation is great and literally will last all day with no touching up at all required and still looking good later on in the day to take you through to the evening (my sort of eyeshadow). Great for oily lids, hooded lids and for holidays too but they also remove easily with your usual make up remover. What a great product and again shows you don’t have to spend a fortune on a good eyeshadow.

Nobody’s skin is perfect is it and mine certainly isn’t. We all have our problems and one of mine is my nose and cheeks which are hypersensitive and prone to redness. I search constantly to find the perfect product for my skin and end up treating area with different products depending on what that area needs and have only just found the range Eucerin. They have a huge range of products for hypersensitive skin and this particular cream is for reddened/hypersensitive and rosacea prone skin so if that’s you and you haven’t tried this, then you could find it is for you. I apply this twice a day over the reddened areas as even though you have such sensitive skin you still need to be applying a calming barrier to your skin.

Eucerin Anti Redness

When you apply this to your skin you do feel an instant calming/soothing feeling, certainly no irritation whatsoever like some products and the reason for this for me is that it has 0% pure formulation which means it only has a limited number of ingredients and no preservatives, parabens, paraffins, fragrances and alcohol. My redness is certainly calming down and reducing and it has helped me to get back into moisturising that particular area as I was almost at the point where I didn’t know what to put on it. Eucerin is a derma cosmetic company which has been going for about 100 years! I got this from Boots and I don’t know about you but when I was in there, there were literally so many products to choose from that I sometimes find it utterly confusing as to which one to use, so I hope that this helps somebody in some way…. When I come back in another life hehe …. I am coming back with skin like a rhino so that I can just put anything on it.

It’s a beautiful evening in Greece and the sun is setting and I am off to enjoy a little cocktail with my girlies and share some good times …. Have a great week xx

Lots of Love and as always I love to hear from you in the comments section….

Hi Lovelies

Welcome to another week in the life of ….. This week I put up a video which was different from the norm and was one that people had asked me to do about how I stay Healthy and Happy so it was more of a chatty one and was really well received by so many people who asked me to do some others at some point as well on a variety of different subjects. I love doing the chatty ones and sharing the experiences and life learnings that I have and hope that it helps some people in some way. This week’s been a bit more of a chilling week as I am going away with Becky and Holly next week so prepping for that in many ways with all the sorting there is to do before you go away. I don’t really feel as though we have had much of a summer here and am looking forward to some chill out with my gorgeous daughters. It’s the time when we chat about all sorts of things and do the little things in life that I enjoy so much like all having breakfast together… Love it and each year it becomes harder and harder to find a date that suits everyone. I did get to look after the puppies though whilst the girls were in Paris, which I loved and to say Thank You the girls gave me a gorgeous box of Parisian Macarons as they are called. OMG – these are probably the softest, chewiest, most delectable macarons I have ever tried. They are keeping their Momma sweet!

So now for some beauty and first slot has to go to The Amazing Body Shop who really are flying this year with bringing out such fabulous new products and getting themselves back in the game in so many different areas. Followers know that I love The Body Shop but it’s been a while since they changed packaging and took themselves up to another level to rival other brands that are creeping in. I love them for the fact though that they don’t test on animals too. So the fabulous range that they have just brought out is called Oils of Life.

oils of life bottle

Go run to the nearest Body Shop to have a look because you will find that they are truly changing to supplying dark glass bottles with lovely black tops which come in neat white boxes with gold embossing on and you will hardly recognise this now luxurious brand. All centred around adding a glow and revitalising your skin they have used cold pressed seed oils (to give the best quality) consisting of Black Cumin, Camelia and Rosehip, selected for their anti-oxidant, nutrient and fatty acid qualities.

Now I am someone that certainly felt like they had a problem putting oils on my face as my oily T-zone seems to react badly, but I learnt to just apply a couple of drops into my hands (just inhale that gorgeous smell before you apply it to your face …. it’s wonderful) and then to smooth this over my face and then apply one of the two moisturisers on top. The oil is the most perfect texture to be absorbed into your skin so you don’t end up feeling like you are a grease ball! So first of all it’s the beautifully packaged Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil – a couple of drops of that at night and then followed by the choice of two moisturisers.

oils of life dropper

Again, because I sometimes do suffer with an oiliness I opted for the Intensely Revitalising Gel Cream, which is a beautiful gel blend of facial oils which manages to hydrate my skin but not leave it sticky. This is perfect for me. However, if you wanted more of a cream (and perhaps I will as I get into Winter) then try the Intensely Revitalising Cream which is lovely and soft, light and silky but feels so good on the skin and again, not greasy so that you wake up with definitely smoother, softer skin. I alternate this with a nightly regime where I add a hyaluronic serum on the other night. Getting the best of both worlds. Well done The Body Shop for bringing out a brilliant, luxurious Oils of Life range.

All this talk about lovely oils on the skin and the love and care that we do give our skin. One of the lovely things about writing this blog is that I get to find out about all sorts of new products coming out and one that I am particularly interested at the moment is SEQuaderma. I like to try products for nearly two months to understand if it is going to make a difference and I have been trying the one for Ageing and Thinning Skin. We all know that problems and differences in our skin can have massive effects on people’s confidence and they also do other gels for other skin conditions. Sequa derma is more a scientific brand and their secret seems to be the tiny nanosperes which squeeze through our skin to deliver key ingredients to the right places. It’s a gel that I applied morning and night and instead of trying it on my face I decided to try it on my right hand (strange I know) but the reason for doing this was that I did notice that my right hand looks more aged than my left, and my reasoning was that if it could work on my hand, then it could certainly work on my face …

You leave it to work for 10 minutes – go downstairs, make a cup of tea etc and then if you like wipe it off although mine was always absorbed and then apply your toner and moisturiser as you would. I have to say that this little potion packed with Vitamin C/E and phospholipids (all great for skincare) got to work fairly quickly, within a week or so I would say and my hand had definitely plumped up, looks better texture and is smoother and this product slowly chips away at the hyper-pigmentation that I have which we all get to some degree as we age. At the moment it is £19.99 and is sold at Lloyds Pharmacy and online there and within 6 weeks I am only half way down the bottle so it’s really good value for money compared to some products out there. I am going to continue with it and probably re-purchase which is always a good sign and I am also going to try some of their Anti Redness one as well and will let you know how I get on with that one.Lloyds Pharmacy

I can’t possibly write a blog, if you know me well enough, without having some touch of gorgeousness in there and this week it is the turn of Marc Jacobs Enamoured Nail Enamel, which was a present that Becky and Holly bought me back from the US and in the shade Shocking because they know how I like my hot pink. This nail enamel comes in nearly 40 shades when I looked online and I know that mine was from that amazing store Sephora (omg what a store – it’s like a sweetie shop but full of make up!)

marc jacobs

The actual polish was apparently inspired by Marc Jacobs’ glossy coffee table and has an amazing level of shine to it even without a topcoat. The bottle is just something that when I saw it, I just knew I had to hold it … with its black glossy top which you pull off (it took me a while to work that out!) it’s a touch of luxury and the polish comes out as such a superior nail polish with its vivid colour and I found that one coat could almost be enough – that tells you how opaque it is. (I did apply two coats though to get the best effect). I even loved the brush that comes with it and found it super easy to apply an even coat. I know this is such a classic colour, but there is a huge range of lovely colours for you to choose from. At the moment it’s in my bathroom to “Oooh, Ahhh” at every day!!

I can’t go without just telling you about something new that I tried this week. Indulging in a bath is one of life’s pleasures and although showers are great I don’t really find them that relaxing so when I was sent a couple of Kneipp Sparkling Bath Tablets I thought I would give the Arnica one a go before I went to bed one night. I had done a bit of exercise that day, but didn’t fully realise how much my muscles would relax until I sank down into a bath with it dissolved in and gave my body an aromatherapeutic treat and what a lovely treat it was.

Get past the bright yellow/orange colour, which threw me a bit, but I closed my eyes and it didn’t matter and I felt all those little tiny muscles individually relaxing as I laid there and almost fell asleep…. in fact I had to drag myself out of the bath and get myself into bed quick because I was SO relaxed! These are natural and the arnica one has anti inflammatory properties and also is very effective on bruises and when I came out of the bath I found my skin nicely hydrated and super smooth. They also do one in Eucalyptus which I think would be amazing to lie in when you had a head cold .. that colder weather is not far away and I am sure I will be using it soon. They are £1.95 each and can be purchased off Amazon and Feel Unique sites so they are definitely something to spoil your body with naturally of course!

Just look at these cute puppies …. I think I wore them out !!

Have a lovely week.

Beauty, Hair, Make Up, Nails

Welcome back Lovelies

This Friday has found me back in the UK and positively shivering when I returned … what has happened to our temperatures? We have truly gone into Autumn and I need to be doing some serious thinking about planning an Autumn wardrobe as last year I didn’t buy very much and have very few sweaters to see me through. My problem is I am a “throw on a dress and some heels” kinda gal! Going to be shivering a lot then! Does everyone feel like that when they get back from somewhere fairly warm … put the heating on and how are we going to survive haha? I haven’t actually put the heating on yet, but I have an Aga in my kitchen which I have kept going on low all year round as I can’t bear to be cold. I had a great time in France at the World Rowing Champs where I am pleased to say GB came first in the medals section, so it was exciting times and great to catch up with so many people. Here’s a little shot of the beautiful Lake Aiguebelette on the day my nephew was rowing (for Australia actually).

lake rowing

Now onto some beauty and how would you feel about using a nail polish that is probably the most moisturising I have ever used and doesn’t leave yellow staining on your nail? As you readers will know, I love nail polish and use many brands but trying this latest one by Eve Snow has been different. Right from the glossy way that the polish looked and the richness of colour, I knew that this was different from a lot of brands and the reason for this is that it contains Vitamin E, Argan Oil and Ginkgo Biloba whose properties help to nourish the nail and it is also a brand with fewer toxins in too.

eve snow varnish

I tried this out on my nails a few days before a trip to France where I wanted a nice coral colour to show off my toes and the shade I have is Sunrise Glow. It goes on beautifully and you could almost get away with one coat, but because I was going away for a while I applied two. Ten days on, it still looks glossy and rich in colour, is only very slightly chipped and my nails look and feel so much healthier than a normal varnish would leave them. My toes love it and I am super impressed. Brought out by a 26 year old girl who could obviously see a gap in the market for a great product, which has won a few beauty awards and also give back a percentage of the profits to charity. They sell it in Boots and Marks and Spencers and there is a pretty good colour range too – something for everyone and for each season and it is £14. I am definitely going to be buying an Autumnal shade to try and this one will make it onto my fingernails too!

Now I can be glam, but I also like cute and my daughters knew that I would love this compact when they brought it me from the US. So many blushers come in clumpy boxy containers and this lovely new range from Too Faced comes in a gorgeous sweetheart packaging design which opens up to include a cute heart mirror and a sweet rabbit design within the blush which makes it a fun addition in my make up bag as it is perfect for travelling as well. Don’t you find, that along with the lipstick the blusher is not far behind to fade, and this new one from Too Faced lasts all day once you have applied it.

too faced love flush

The colour I have it in is called Baby Love and is a lovely natural looking blush with a hint (and only a hint) of a gold shimmer in it, making it a perfect blush for the Autumn/Winter and one which would suit all skin tones. It’s really pigmented, so don’t be heavy handed when applying this otherwise you will get a bit of a shock and the blush is super soft to the touch, so really luxurious too. It’s the kind of blush that you would wear every day and it would give you a lovely glow and one which makes me smile every time I take it out of my make up bag.

How many times have I admired this little beauty as a gorgeous palette of finishing powders and finally I succumbed and purchased one a few weeks ago. Firstly, it still is the one of the loveliest beauty products that I own and every time I open it I can’t wait to use it. It’s expensive, yes, I know, but not only is the case beautiful and the product inside but I love the effect that it has on my complexion. Designed to give you that ‘glow from within’, that ‘basking in the glow of candlelight’ look and without any airbrushing, this palette contains 3 beautiful powders to try. A friend of mine mixes them all together and applies it all over her skin to give it that soft glow that we all love, but I play about with mine a little bit more, but it is entirely up to you as to what effect you like.

hourglass ambient

There are three powders within the palette – Dim, Incandescent and Radiant. Dim is a good match for my fair skin tone with just a hint of warmth, a soft beige which works on cool or warm tones and helps to blur any pores, Incandescent has a glow quality for areas that you want to highlight such as cheekbones, tops of eyebrows, bridge of nose etc, and Radiant is a golden beige that adds more warmth to a complexion and I either apply it with a flat foundation brush or a stippling highlighter brush. Finely milled and perfect for mature skin to give me that dewy glow of youth! I purchased mine from Space NK and have never looked back!

For someone that has pretty fine, limp hair – the struggle for volume and weightlessness within a product is quite hard to find so when I found Dove’s Oxygen Moisture Souffle Treatment for fine, flat hair, I thought this had my name on it so hey …. give it a go. Anything with the word ‘souffle’ in and I am hooked – a bit like I would choose a double cooked cheese souffle for a starter at meals. Yum. But hey, let’s get back to the hair… We all have so many issues with our hair that we are trying to deal with and what style we are trying to achieve and so it is usually for me a combination of products which are combined to help me to do this.

dove oygen moisture souffle

It comes in a shallow round tub and is indeed a light, mousse consistency and after shampooing I leave it for 5 minutes in my hair. (the smell is lovely). Although I am initially quite concerned that a product this light will have enough of a moisturising effect I am pleased to say that it does on me feel beautifully light and smooth and soft and with so much more volume than I would have using other shampoos and conditioners. I am thinking that this is a great summer treatment and probably one I will alternate with a richer one in the winter. There is a shampoo and conditioner within the range and I will certainly purchase those to try next time but in the meantime I definitely feel myself stroking my soft, fluffier hair more (that’s probably very annoying to lots of people!)

Hope you have enjoyed the products this week and lots of love.

Beauty, Skincare

Hello Lovelies

And welcome to this week’s blog and I am back in beautiful France for a few days and for a World Rowing Championships in Aigueballette down near Lyon. It always takes me a few days to unwind to the pace here, which I love, and of course I have to sample the lovely French food whilst I am here. Along with my fresh Almond Croissant in the morning (yum), another favourite of mine has to be the lovely Cafe Gourmand where after the main course you have an Espresso coffee and then several choices of little bite sized desserts which for me is perfect to sample the lovely choices and not have a huge dessert which I cannot eat. Needless to say, though, I have overeaten already, haha but I can get back to healthy eating next week when I return to the UK. Life is for living after all. My husband has just gone off to the beautiful Patisserie here to purchase one of their delectable Florentines for me (and for him of course!) – another of my favourites!(You can tell I have a bit of a sweet tooth, can’t you?) But … diet next week ….

cafe gourmand

As we walked through the streets of Annecy and the lovely villages around, you can’t help but notice how the French women so look after their appearance, both with their hair and make up, and with their chic way of fashion and in every town/large village there is always a hairdressers or two, a lingerie shop or two and a beautiful perfume and skincare shop. Not much home accessories going on here …. just the important things in life! Got to admire them. So let’s get onto this week’s beauty….

Taking the French theme to start off with and a brand that you know that I love – Caudalie – set up by a lovely couple using skincare products made with the products of the vine. They have a spa near Bordeaux and I am saving up to go with the girls and a friend next September, if we can, as I know that I would be truly in heaven, relaxing in a beautiful place with products that I totally love. I have really sensitive skin and the thought of what I call a proper Glycolic Peel which literally lifts your layer of skin off and leaves your skin red underneath fills me with fear … so reading about Caudalie’s version which contains glycolic acid, papaya and viniferine and promised to be gentler on the skin, I plucked up the courage to give it a go.

glycolic peel

The peel comes in a smart tube with a mock wood effect screw cap and the actual product goes on really easily and felt so gentle on my skin … I was waiting for the irritant to kick in, but it didn’t which I was so pleased about. I left it for about ten minutes and then removed it with a facecloth and have to say that this is one of those products that does actually give an immediate effect. My cheeks looked really brightened and my skin felt baby smooth. Using this regularly (they say twice a week) definitely helps keep skin that way and i noticed putting make up on as well, this felt so much smoother to apply. It is supposed to help with dark spots and some scarring, but that would be over a period of a long time and I need to give it more testing, which I will, to see how it performs in those areas. I really like this peel and it’s like with a lot of products, until you have used it, you don’t know how much better your skin or make up can look and for me I would far rather remove the dead skin cells on my face this way than with anything harsher. If you have skin like an old leather handbag … then you can use anything on it .. but … I don’t and its about finding what is right for your own skin. Caudalie have come up with a great peel.

Now how about those pearly whites? Or perhaps not so pearly whites! Definitely having yellower coloured teeth can help you look older than you actually are, which most people if they thought about it, probably wouldn’t want. If you hate that fake Simon Cowell whiteness which a lot of companies offer and you just want to brighten your own up and give them that lovely feeling of when you go to the hygienist at the dentist and they clean your teeth for you, well you can feel a bit like that most days if you use a whitening toothpaste. White Glo is a top Australian brand of toothpaste originally developed for actresses and models and is available in the UK at Superdrug and Boots and I have been using it for about a month now.

white glow

Probably like most of you I do drink tea (gotta drink tea … I am English!), and I love coffee (can’t cope in the mornings without my morning caffeine) and I do like the occasional glass of red wine (supposed to be good for you), so staining does happen and by using this lovely toothpaste I have found that I have definitely whitened them and managed to keep them whiter. This one also has a mouthwash within the formula to get to all the places you can’t reach with your brush. Because I have slightly sensitive teeth as well, I tend to do one week with the White Glo and one week with a sensitive toothpaste. Whiter teeth definitely help with your confidence too. Happily I can continue with my Americano’s …… and still have whiter teeth haha..

Now I am someone that likes an eyeliner – particularly on my top lid as I have found my eyes need definition the older I have become and a lot of eyeliners do tend to blend into the socket area and eventually wear off throughout the day. I have used the They’re Real in Black in the winter and was really happy to see that Benefit have brought this out in Brown now, which particularly in the summer for me suits me better. This has an angled applicator which helps to do the winged eyeliner look if thats what you are after (I must admit, that’s something I can’t do, and wouldn’t look good on me anyway) but allows you to do thin or think lines as well.

theyre real eyeliner

You need to pull the eyelid taut and hug the eyelashes really tightly with this applicator to make this product work and it might need a little bit of practise to get used to this and I also find that each time I go to it I need to remove the dried out bit on the end of the applicator before I twizzle (is that a word haha ) the product to obtain a fresh amount to apply. The result though is a beautiful line and one which is waterproof (again fab for the holidays) and lasts all day, no need to be reapplying at lunchtime … you will look amazing all day. If you have really oily skin then it might break down the product and you might have to reapply but with me it is fine. To remove it I use my Clarins Eye Make up Remover which dabbed onto a cotton wool pad and soaked for a few seconds removes it fine, as it is an oil based remover which I like.

To go with the brown eyeliner I also have started using the They’re Real Mascara in Brown which Benefit brought out this summer too. Again, this is waterproof, like the eyeliner, so if you have any sad events lined up then this is a great mascara to wear to save it running down your face and it doesn’t flake and looks good for such a long time which some of the cheaper mascaras don’t. Two coats of this defines and lengthens my eyelashes and definitely gives them a Wow! factor and I like the fact that I can use the end of the brush to use on the corner lashes and the bottom ones.

theyre real mascara

I just can’t say goodbye to Summer yet. (A sadness will descend on me – are you the same?) I am away in France at the moment and hanging onto every bit of sunshine and that still means for me wearing bright colours and having bright nails. I just can’t help it … it cheers me up so much. Perhaps I have that SAD disease? Anyway, one of the things that really does cheer me is bright nails and I pulled out my bottle of Essie polish in Lovey Dovey to take away with me.

lovey dovie polish

Essie is a lovely brand of nail polish in what I would call that medium priced bracket and I haven’t yet found a drugstore brand with as nice a brush as this for applying this gorgeous polish with such a professional finish. A base coat and two coats of this beautiful Soft Pink – in fact it is so girlie it’s probably a Barbie pink … and I am loving it. Pop a top coat on every few days and it may last a week (if you don’t do too many household chores!) Happiness on my nails…. Gotta hang on to this Summer somehow.

So that’s it for the Beauty…. a pic of me going out for a casual barbecue lunch with friends wearing a maxi by Oasis and naughty little Penelope in the background taking advantage of jumping on the chair she is not allowed on! Love that puppy xxx

me in oasis dress

Lots of love and have a great week.
