Anti ageing, Beauty

Hello Lovelies

Welcome to this week’s blog and update on my life and beauty! This last week I had some lovely friends over for dinner on the Saturday night and enjoyed doing lots of cooking, which I often don’t have the time to do (as I am sure you find too) .. but it was fun to be able to plan a really lovely meal and make some gorgeous food for my friends. I always so appreciate anything anyone makes for me as I understand the time and effort that goes into creating food for friends. This is a little photo of one of the desserts that I made which was actually Mary Berry’s chocolate mousse and I served it in some Royal Albert china cups which I actually borrowed from Becky. I thought that it was a cute idea to serve them like this and the mousse tasted really amazing (I love chocolate), but wasn’t too much for a dessert.

Let’s get onto some beauty products that I have been trying this last week…

Everyone knows the iconic YSL Touche Eclat and how that changed how we highlight today and YSL have now reformulated their foundation with a fantastic improvement I would say. I must confess that I really didn’t get on with the first foundation they brought out as I found it too dewy and oily for my more mature skin and so was slightly cautious about trying the new formulation, but I was able to obtain a tester from Debenhams when they first came out and got matched up for the Spring/Summer with BR40. They have a fantastic range of 22 shades and the B stands for Beige and the R for rose, being perfect for a slightly pinky toned skin like mine. In the winter I would probably drop back to a BR30. The promise is to give that fresh faced look of 8 hours sleep using catchlight technology, anti fatigue complex and lots of ingredients including vitamin E to help the skin be less tired. I really love a foundation that actually helps the skin too. As we age we need more and more help evening out the tone and brightening it so I was keen to try this.

This foundation is designed to give more intense coverage than the previous one, as well as looking and feeling light and natural which is certainly what I am looking for. The main problem area for me is covering redness and I found that it did this beautifully and that I barely needed much concealer – I did use an under eye concealer but even without it the YSL did a great job of brightening that area. So it evened out my redness (yaaay!) and I only added powder down my t-zone and slightly onto my cheeks where my pores are larger now. I love the slight glow that it gives you (it’s not too much) and with the increased coverage, and lasting longer than the previous one, it’s perfect when you want that flawless look. This is my latest go-to foundation and I am loving it. Ooh and I apply it with a brush. You could use a beauty blender but I sometimes find that uses more product and with this being quite an expensive foundation, then you want to make sure it lasts as long as possible! I got mine at Debenhams for £29.25

What a gem of a find this is? How much do I love a product that does more than one thing? And one that is great to carry around in your handbag for touch ups at in that late afternoon time slot before you are going out after work for drinks with friends ???

This product claims to be “youth infusing” .. oh yes lets have some of that! with a corrector/concealer at one end and a brightening serum at the other. I swipe the creamy concealer end under my eyes and find it conceals any dark circles that I have and then gently blend that in with my warm fingers and love that it is really hydrating for that delicate under eye area and that the concealer is really long wearing too. It is a lovely really lightweight concealer too and comes in some great shades. I also use it on areas of redness or any odd spot that I might have.

Then I take the brightening serum end and apply this on my eye socket bone and take that out to the side of the eyes. The serum is lovely to apply and helps to smooth the appearance of fine lines and it has colour correcting optics in it which again help to even out skintone and brighten any shadowy areas that I may have.

Although called a highlighter, I would call it more of an illuminator as it hasn’t got as much shimmer as a liquid highlighter and it lifts the eye area and brightens the skin without being pearlescent, which in daytime might be too much.

I love it and literally carry it in my handbag all the time as I find it is an instant touch up/pick me up to the eye area and the face and love the fact that it is a two in one product.

That’s it for this week – a quick pic of me just before the guests arrived last week.

Love to you all as always and thanks so much for reading xx

Hello again Lovelies,

Welcome to this week’s blog in the life of me!! Thanks for all your lovely comments on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and the blog itself. It means the world to me all the feedback that I get and all the positive comments that I have received. Since starting this blog I have received some of the loveliest emails/comments, some from people that I haven’t even met from all over the world which is still to me, amazing to believe and to know that people are reading this so far afield is wonderful. An email was sent to me today, just before I had to go in for some treatment on my neck and back with needles which help to relax the muscles, something I never really look forward to, but if does help, and I read this email before I went into the practice. In the email this person was writing to say what a difference my blog and those of my daughter’s have made to her life and given her the confidence to use lovely skincare again and try different make ups – she is excited about her life again, having passed 40 a while ago and loves what we do. The email was quite lengthy and she went into a bit more detail about everything but as I read it I welled up with tears of happiness in the car for this lady who has had a bit of a tough time in the past and now is so excited and happy about the future and about herself. That’s my point …. we all want to feel good about ourselves and look as good as possible for as long as possible …. and she is well on the way to that now. I felt so happy inside…. x
